Crazy is My Middle Name-Secret Subject Swap

Secret Subject Swap

Welcome to Take One of April’s Secret Subject Swaps. This week, 12 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.

My “Secret Subject” is:

It’s never any fun being normal. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done? It was submitted by:

Firstly, OH MY GOD, Is that just the BEST subject EVA? It’s like it was made for just ME and my crazy life. And then I went into a panic, I have to choose just one thing? How will I choose, will it be funny? People will find out my secrets…

So I pondered, would I talk about the time we partied with some bad bikers and Mansel the pig and I got a 2nd degree burn from a Harley Davidson on my calf? Having to drive myself to the hospital and enduring a tetanus shot. Or maybe the time I drove 18 hours straight from Sydney to Melbourne just for fun? Hung over…and then back, finally passing out at home and sleeping through an entire day…..Stupid and dangerous. I could tell you about the time my car got ‘stolen’, oh wait, no we can’t talk about that.

Overnight road trips to Sydney, drinking beer while driving in the morning rush hour traffic was a regular passtime. Hmmm, of course there was that time we accidentally broke the bar and danced on the tables.  Should I admit to all those nights I drove home drunk and survived….. Hmm, all that is pretty crazy but might incriminate myself and others, so I better not talk about it. Move along, nothing to see here.

And there is my dilemma. party hard

So much for the excitement. 🙁

What to talk about without getting someone else in trouble. I even asked The King, he’s still getting back to me.

I always made it to work on time… not always sober but I always turned up. Yeah, we were wild and kinda out of control but in a responsible way… kinda.

How is that even possible?

I’m still here to tell you it is, I was a crazy 20 something ‘on the road with the band’ chick, having an affair and experiencing all that the wild side has to offer. I didn’t smash any cars, I didn’t accidentally get pregnant, I didn’t get hooked on any drugs, although I may have taken a couple, accidentally of course. But just that one time right?! For the experience only.

The up side…

I survived unscathed, unless you count the tattoo I got in King’s Cross one night. (Let’s not count that, it’s not even considered crazy anymore.)
I consider it all a learning experience, I’m all set to raise my kids, beyond their teenage years and well into their 20’s. There’s nothing they can do that we haven’t done already. We will be able to guide them into adulthood … well hopefully, staying one step ahead.

You know what… that’s gonna be the craziest thing I’ve ever done. Having grown up children. I’m actually excited for it. I am looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Hey King, it’s ok … I didn’t tell ’em anything. We’re good, don’t worry….

  1. Sounds like you had a few pretty wild years. I did too, and I think in many ways it did prepare me for having teens. And in some ways it backfired. Like when I told them of some mistakes I made and they did some of those things too and threw it in my face that they weren’t doing anything I hadn’t done. Ugh.

  2. Wow! You let quite a life and I’m a little jealous! But it sounds like you had fun….that’s what it really boils down to right? You can look back and say “Dude, that was AWESOME” instead of “I wish I’d done that”. No regrets!

  3. I love the fact that we can tell our kids “You can’t do anything I haven’t done. I know all the tricks; so don’t even try!” I just hope they don’t take it as a challenge 😉

  4. Love that topic! Oh I have done some crazy things and amazed by how I survived or didn’t get caught. I look back and want to smack myself. the craziest was making very naughty cupcakes…if they ever got out I’d die now. LOL

  5. How many things I did in my 20s that I know realize – OMG how did I survive my 20s??? But in case our kids ask, their daddy and I only dated each other and were virgins when we got married. Totally sticking with that story.
