And the Wheel just keeps on Turning

We’ve had a huge roller coaster of a week and weekend. If you know us at all, you know that normal shit just doesn’t happen here. We have things going on that few people would believe. Sometimes they come off, sometimes they don’t but it’s all kinds of crazy pretty often.

The King’s business is going really well and transactions are starting to happen. If you need any type of real estate transaction you should try us at Locate Real Estate (Ok gratuitous plug over). Friday was a celebration because a big deal came off! It began quietly enough with a nice dinner that the King cooked. Yes it was steak,

but it ended like this!photo (22)

Family time is certainly interesting around here.

On Saturday morning, Miss Gremlin went off to chess, and the King and Grand Master D went to the butcher to film dressing a side of beef. You can watch that here if you want. I finished painting the ceiling where the lights were installed and then we enjoyed the glorious sunshine. Spring is on the way I think.

Sunday I woke up to news that the Princess was punched for “being white”. Long story but reverse racism is alive and well friends. She’s fine. If you follow on facebook you may have already seen this. We really need to do better co existing.

The sun was out so we took full advantage and walked nearly 7 miles and discovered Randall’s Island. photo (1)

Cool place! We cabbed home though. I think that’s enough walking for one day.

The kids wanted free range dinner and so they headed off to get it from the store. I love how independent they feel in the neighbourhood.

After they both went to bed exhausted, we sat down and enjoyed our steak, The King had been salivating over the video all weekend and so needed a big chunk of meat, when I received a txt from the Princess:gmd

That girl is faster than me! So I had a look and sure enough Grand Master D was accepted into the school he auditioned for back in December.

So we got him out of bed to tell him but you know when you’re a kid and your parents say come out and have a seat, you think shit is about to go down and you’re in some kind of trouble, well the King drew it out and drew it out until the poor kid was almost beside himself and then I showed him the facebook post and we congratulated him and from sheer relief, fear, worry and every other emotion in between, he cried.

So like all good parents, we toasted his success and gave him chocolate! Parenting win…. teaching him, of course, booze and food are NOT emotional crutches. Wait….um…oops. photo (24)

Anyway we’re all very proud of him, and he has time to come to terms with it all and embrace his chosen career path. He just needs to not have us fuss about it. It’s hard to be sensitive in this world.

I’m looking forward to a quiet week, thanks.

So now it’s your turn, how was your weekend?

  1. One of my friends went to a school that had “cracker day.” She’d have to beg her mom to stay home so she wouldn’t get beat up 🙁 Awful! Hope your daughter rises above.

  2. Counting Mutant just put his toe back into the real estate thing. He’s trying to pretend he’s not freaked out. Congrats to GMD AND poor Princess. We all just need to be nice! I’m still waiting to hear what MG’s big news was.
