The End of the World, Christmas and Puke………

Christmas has come and gone, in this house we celebrated in style…. like we always do. Everyone got plenty of goodies. Even though it was less than other years, both the kids were very happy. Grand Master D commented that it was the best Christmas ever. Miss Gremlin hasn’t taken her new bathrobe off yet…

We had a beautiful day with great food and lovely friends. Naturally, I did all the prep 🙂 It’s a chick’s job after all ….. But by Christmas afternoon I was done, 4 functions in 5 days. That’s enough for anyone. Time for a break.

As if on queue, the minute I announced that it was a ‘fend for yourself’ dinner I started to feel sick….. Within an hour I was in the 7th circle of hell unable to decide which end of my body needed to be in the toilet bowl. Yeah, I know, sorry for the visual but if I’m going to get any sympathy then I need to be graphic… right?! It went on like this for many hours. When you’re in this it’s hard to think it will ever end. There really is nothing worse…….

Now, you know us mothers, our lives don’t stop for illness and we have to be almost dying before we allow ourselves to stop. So you can imagine how bad I was to stay in bed ALL day yesterday. But the guilt was there, I know I shouldn’t feel guilty for being sick, I never get sick or stay in bed but we get conditioned to think that the family can’t do without us. Sure we do the Lion share of the work and we think our husbands can’t pull it together without us but the truth be known, they can, if we let them.

I had no choice but to let him, I just couldn’t function….. I was lucky to stumble from the bathroom to bed, I spent a great deal of time in the fetal position on the bathroom floor.

Amazingly the house didn’t fall apart, everyone got fed, even the dog…..I got to recuperate and in the process lost 6lbs!
That’s gotta be some new record for the Christmas period ……….

It was indeed a very Merry Christmas after all.

  1. Will you please mail me an infected lollipop? I would love to check out for a day and wake up a few pounds lighter… Maybe I should start eating pork, for the worms.

  4. I hope you’re feeling better!! Thank goodness you hubby picked up the slack when you were sick but isn’t it so hard to let go of the reigns because you’re so used to doing it all as a mom? 🙂
