Stress, it’s a killer.

In today’s society we are over stressed. There never seems to be an off switch. Stress hormones are released from the adrenal glands for our bodies to cope, however they were designed for minimal use, to give you the fight or flight instinct. If there is imminent danger the body releases hormones so we can react. These days we are under attack all day long, stress over money, stress over relationships, body image, over working, lack of exercise , the list is endless. We eat bad food which fuels our bodies inadequately and therefore causes more stress. No wonder we have more strokes, heart attacks and on going depressions common among the population.

So how do we combat this? How do we turn off our bodies normal reaction to stress? It’s important to be able to relax without toxins like alcohol and drugs.

I struggle with this problem a lot. I feel like I’m always on. The day is long with pressure the whole time. I usually can’t wait for the kids to go to bed so I can relax. I know that sounds strange because they’re getting to an age where they’re very self sufficient but I still feel that way. Then of course you think the night is done and there are husbands to take care of. The stress builds up. I have never been able to handle stress well. Some people thrive. I’m not one of those. I find it difficult to work under pressure.

These days I do my best to avoid it. It does nothing good for me. It give me rashes and itchy skin. It changes my demeanour. I want to be happy and carefree. Not weighed down by stress. I am honing my fight or flight skills. I’m getting good at flight. If you stress me I run but I’m also learning to fight.

The summer is here and that means no more school and hopefully no more stress. The king has taken the kids out and I have a free moment. I plan to use it well.
Happy Summer y’all  🙂  Stay sane …..
