Enter Shirley Bassey

So you remember when Sid Fishious escaped?  And how sad we were and how we missed him. Well I decided we really were a family who needs a permanent floating fish and bought a new one for My Lord Dr King for Christmas. We put him together but upon inflation we ran out of helium…. too much toking perhaps 🙂

It’s taken this long to get more. That stuff is expensive, and requires special shipping…but seeing as it’s Miss Gremlin’s birthday on Sunday and I suggested we fill her room in balloons while she sleeps as a birthday surprise upon waking, we had cause to get another tank. See how that works, justification, two birds, one stone and all that.

I traipsed around the city finally finding a tank in the East Village. But I got to see some pretty cool scenery.

Once the kids got home we set about getting the fish done, unlike Sid, this one isn’t a cute clown fish but a sulking looking bass (ill tempered one might say) .

With all things that live in this house he needed a name. Grand Master D came up with Shirley Bassey and then he was a she, just like the Lou Reed song.

Shirley seems happy, she doesn’t move much and her personality is yet to be seen but I imagine that will come once we open the windows and let some air current in.

Welcome to our home Shirley, we’ve fixed the terrace door, so there is no escape.

  1. That is SO cool. I want one. Sid Fishious – LOL We used to have a motorized helium filled zeppelin that we’d fly around the living room atrium until it met with an untimely humanity-filled Hindenburg end, minus fire, thank god. There used to be a party store just up the street and we’d get our helium there. But I love the idea of a fish floating out of water.
