Commuting Kids-Sometimes they have a Fail

SMITH

When you put your kid on a train, all sorts of feelings happen. Fear, panic, paranoia… none of the good one’s naturally.

Grand Master D has begun his 4 year high school commute, 2 trains and 40 minutes away from home. He starts at 8:20 so he must leave by 7:30 at the latest every morning.

Wednesday morning he discovered what happens when he’s even just a minute or two late.

We live in a city with millions of people. Millions! And they all use public transport to get themselves to school and work. A minute or two can make the difference between a packed train and a train that you cannot possibly get into.

Luckily they come every 5-10 minutes but still when you’re new to all this it can be scary. And so you make decisions that are not the best. He chose to walk across Manhattan… And that’s a long ass way.

At least we don’t live in Tokyo…. could you imagine this? I’m pretty sure I’d have a panic attack.

He’ll be ok, he’ll work the system out….but one thing’s for sure, he got his exercise today!

I hope they’re a little lenient at school for a couple more weeks.

  1. I found definitions for ‘long ass’, ‘long ass day’, ‘long ass time’, ‘long ass rice’ (go figure) and ‘long ass week’ in the online urban dictionary, but none for long ass way. Help me here, how far is that?
