The Cat’s Away, So naturally the Mice Get The Plague

So My Lord Dr King left on his long overdue Aussie tour, which I’m super excited for him to do. It’s almost as good as going myself except for the flight and the timtams…

Anyway, we’re here soldiering on like good little troopers. Grand Master D has been sick but battling through, luckily he had a week off for regents testing which he wasn’t required for. Gotta love the school system.

It’s been snowing every other day in New York,  Old Man Winter is really giving us the finger. I love the snow, I do. What I don’t love is the inconsistency, one day is minus 54,000 degrees and the next day you need tshirts and sunscreen, and then back to minus 46,000 degrees, ok I might be exaggerating a little but you get what I mean, and so we’re all sick, ALL OF US, even  the Princess and she doesn’t even live in this germ infested hovel, she has her own.ID-10067566

So on Saturday, the kids decided that it was entirely unacceptable that the Princess was sick and alone and had no food, and they came home from the movies to load up two grocery bags with supplies and headed on the train to their sisters house 40 blocks north.

They cooked and made lemon juice and honey’s and generally kept her company for the whole afternoon. So sweet of them.

By Sunday I was at death’s door, well I could see it from the terrace. Anyway I was fairly sure I had asthmatic bronchitis too, which I actually had last May and was feeling the same symptoms, luckily I still had some special inhaler left and began using it and just to add some crunchy to my care, I continued on my lemon and honey and garlic and ginger thing and began swigging apple cider vinegar, just for good measure. Having consumed the amount of garlic I had, I knew there was no change of vampire attack. But the vinegar, lemon juices and vicks on my feet with socks actually worked because on Monday morning I woke up feeling 75% better. Congratulating myself on saving a trip to the doctor, I wandered down to rouse the kids out of their slumber. It was snowing again, no snow days are to be had in NYC… so they had school.

But my little Gremlin was taking her turn, the neck pain, the headache and temp, all telltale signs that her brother really is a sharer. So back to bed she went. A girl sick day we had while Grand Master D took himself off to school. I have to say she does bounce back fast because on Tuesday she was up, bright as a button ready for school. Grand Master D? Well that’s a different story. I’m hoping they’ll both exit the building for the rest of the week considering next week is winter break for a week.

  1. Aw, I’m sorry you guys are still under the weather. Hope the whole Mills posse is better soon. How sweet is it that the Princess’ sibs cooked for her and kept her company. You raised ’em right, mama. Stay warm!

  2. Sorry you have all been poorly. Im kinda fascinated by the snow you are getting. At least your weather is committed, one way of the other. Ours is so unsure of itself we get a cold but grey drizzle with a light frost! Where is our snow? Then I have an excuse to light all the fires, instead of feeling it’s all just a bit unnecessary.
