The Oven Broke and So there’s Nothing to do but go on Strike, Right?

I broke the oven, well it stopped working, I didn’t physically hurt it in a rage or anything. It won’t heat up. I think the thermostat is dead. We’ve replaced this before.

I love my oven, I use it ALL the time because I hate cooking but I’ll roast the shit outta any kind of vegie and cook wedges and chicken strips and all manner of other dishes without too much effort. So now I have to cook dinner in other ways, like actually utilise my skills on the cooktop, in pots and stuff. ( I have them I just don’t like to use them).

Luckily we have many take out and restaurant options, and we’ll be using them don’t worry, but hopefully when the repair man comes on Friday, he’ll be able to fix it on the spot. Home cooked meals are still the best, right?

It’s hard to think of new dishes, all my standard meals use the oven these days, our eating habits have changed and now I have to really think of things I can cook using the cooktop and the microwave.

But then again, it’s only until tomorrow… another night of take out won’t kill us, right? We’re doing our part at boosting the economy and didn’t we just have a speech about doing more of that? See, Justification- I got that down.

  1. The oven door came off last week after my boyfriend was a little rough when making chicken last week (weak door). I didn’t have a stove for 6 days- amazing how sick one gets of pizza!

  2. That must suck. Even though I don’t use oven that much (except for keeping food warm till hubby gets home), but in the last week my water heater in the kitchen broke so no warm/hot water to do the dishes (instead I have to boil water in a huge pot), my dish washer broke the following day, and the small space heater in the bathroom broke as well. Talk about 3 for 3. I hope that’s it for a while.
