Pennies from Heaven – Literally

Things have been tight for a quite a while now, around the country people are still suffering due to the economy. The food bank line seems to grow every week when we pass by and has done for a while now. It’s been a tough couple of years.

I feel a change in the wind.

There seems to be an anticipation of good things to come. Businesses are starting to move ahead, investment opportunities are growing and property has begun it’s upward climb. These are all very exciting signs of an economy in recovery. I don’t profess to be any sort of economist or know anything about such matters but I feel the change. Or maybe it’s just the change in seasons 🙂 However I do feel a shift and I am usually very perceptive in that regard.

Last night after the the King took me on another grocery shopping date (don’t ask). He went back out to buy wine. Now the wine store is only one city block away, this is a good but sometimes bad thing 🙂 Being so close to so much has it’s pitfalls. That’s another story though….

A Sure Sign

The King always stops to pick up pennies, you know those annoying little copper coins that should be fazed out and prices rounded up or down…? Yep those ones. Sometimes he finds 1 and sometimes he finds 3 or 4 but he always picks them up, saying that you should always respect money. Well last night between home and the wine store, a distance of 1 block,  he found this……………….

……….pennies, all over the footpath. Abandoned, alone, left to fend for themselves….. 22c worth.

And THAT is how I know the economy is really getting healthier.
People are treating the humble penny with disdain again. Just leaving them dejected all over the ground. They’ve become superfluous.

Disregarded because the need is less great.

Things are looking up folks, we’re on the way back up……there’s pennies from heaven, they’re everywhere if only you look.
