Today’s tall order task was to wash the dog. The King and Miss Gremlin went for a 2 1/2 hour walk in central park yesterday. It was hot, over 100F. Poor TD was exhausted, although really enjoyed swimming in any and every water source available to him, including the boat basin! When they got home they were all covered in …
A Little Bit of Conspiracy
Do you ever read material that freaks you out? I have been reading a lot of material about, food, cancer, vaccines, government strong arm tactics etc and the things I am finding are scaring the crap out of me. So much so I have to stop for a little while because I’m feeling myself becoming paranoid and I want to …
Grand Master D
Grand Master D has just headed off out the door to the movies with his friends. He’ll be out for hours, unsupervised with his friends. I’m not worried at all, nope not me. (quietly freaking out in the corner) What can possibly go wrong! He has a phone, knows his address and is very sensible. I really am pretty comfortable, …
Are You a Short Order Cook?
Lately I have gotten very tough in the kitchen, I’m no longer cooking separate meals. Not that I really did it too much but with the kids older now, their palettes are changing anyway and they are enjoying more varieties of foods. Whatever I serve is what they eat. If they don’t eat it then they will be hungry. My …
The Black Chick, The White Chick, The Aussie and The Muslim
Yes it’s an odd title but let me tell you it’s an odd group! These ladies are some of my friends from the school. We hang out at school, trying to improve the place, we go for liquid lunches (most of us). We drink tons of coffee 🙂 We txt constantly and kick each others kids butts when required.
The Highs and Lows
After my weekend away last week I came home feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It’s amazing what 5 days can do! I’m dragging my butt around today, can’t get enough coffee. It’s been a busy week. Every night something, to bed after midnight and it’s taken it’s toll.
I’m No Coffee Addict!
What constitutes a coffee addiction? Is it the need for the dark rich liquid everyday? Does the smell tickle your nose? Do you get cranky if you don’t have it? Headaches perhaps? I can go without, really I can. What does it mean when you’re on a first name basis with your baristas (yes plural) and they make your coffee …
How Do We Live Without You
I have put off writing this post so many times. How do you talk about losing someone. How it has affected everything you are and everything you do? As the first anniversary draws near I’m not sure what to expect. I fear that I’m going to relive the whole awful time surrounding the passing of my Dad. Not wanting to …
Prescription Meds advertising
When we first arrived in the US we were absolutely floored by the fact that drug companies were allowed to advertise directly to the public. In the past 7 years this advertising has just gotten crazy. It seems every week a new “disease” appears with a new drug to combat it. The disclaimers at the end of the ads are …
When is it appropriate to teach children about HIV AIDS?
A note came home from school last week informing parents that the children would be receiving instruction in HIV AIDS. This is a part of our society and it’s something everyone needs to learn about in health and how to avoid it. However I’m not sure that teaching it to elementary children from kindergarten up is really appropriate.
