Ooh Look, There’s a Rock…..A Walking Tour in Pictures.

During our trip away in the summer we visited Stonehenge. It’s an amazing place,  as we drove along the road we could see it in the distance. It was eerie.

In the middle of nowhere there’s a druid stone thing. Thousands of years old, with no real explanation how it got there or what it’s purpose really was.

From the road, it’s a bunch of strange rocks in a field.

As we got closer it felt a little strange. Like something special used to happen there. Something sacred or at least important.

From every angle this place is just incredible. It’s amazing how they got there. How they were moved from hundreds of miles away to be placed here. And for what reason. Fascinating!

Can’t you see the fascination on their faces? Ok it was early and we’d been touring pretty hard… but still one day they will stop and think about being there and the wonder of the place.

Yeah …… HIM TOO!

If you get the chance to visit. It’s worth it, I promise.

Sure it’s just some rocks in a field in the middle of nowhere…. But THAT’S the fascinating part!

No, We could only walk around them. We were about 50 metres(yards) away on a roped path. But there is an audio guide telling you what they know about them. It would ahve been super cool to get in amongst them though.

  1. Molley – this just blows my mind and the NOT KNOWING is enough to drive me insane. Why are they there? How did they get there? What is/was their purpose?

Maybe some alien toddlers put them there…

  2. I was lucky enough to visit Stonehenge in March with Wendy (we blogged about it at the time)–I found it intensely moving, and completely fascinating. Thanks for the great pics!
