The Night Before Christmas…. With a Twist

Christmas in Australia is different as I’ve mentioned before and that includes the stories. The Night before Christmas is a classic and I love it. I read it to my kids every Christmas Eve, after we watch the Polar Express… it’s just what we do, it sets the mood for Santa 🙂

But in Australia it’s hot at Christmas time and Santa can’t wear his warm clothes or boots and the reindeer, who come from the North Pole, can’t handle the heat, so on the Down Under leg of his trip around the world, Santa’s sleigh is pulled by Big Male Kangaroos called Boomers… Big White Boomers and Santa puts his winter woolies in the back of the sleigh until he’s on his way to the cold!

So now you know!Aussie night before christmas

Gather the kids and turn up the volume and I’ll read you ‘The Aussie Night Before Christmas’.

Yes it’s really me with that funny accent 🙂

I just read you a bedtime story! What!?

And here’s a little song about the Big White Boomers… who help the reindeers in the heat.

  1. HAHAHA! I asked they boy, “Do you want to hear my friend read an Australian Christmas story?” He said, “I won’t understand it.” I told him Australians speak English… And then we listened, and I didn’t understand half the words. I love that one of the roos is named Kylie!

  2. My kids are always talking in (crappy) accents, so it was so nice to hear a real one – thank you for the story! And the weird Aussie words. I can’t wait to show them this when they get home.
