I’m a big boy, I bath myself–Almost

Sir Lickalot, for those who don’t know, is a special dog. He has issues, but luckily taking a bath isn’t one of them. Finally, after procrastinating for weeks, he really needed a bath, we were up to the task. And by we, I really mean me, but you all know that. So how to complete said task in the winter. We all know how messy washing a dog can be.

I usually save it up until I know the bathroom needs a good clean too because once the dog is washed then the bathroom needs an entire wiping over as the hair gets everywhere!

After much coaxing he steps in

Once in the bathroom, behind closed doors,  even though he crouches all the way down the hall, he trusts me enough to just step into the warm bath.

What dog just get in a bath by himself? A brain damaged one….He’s even tried to get in with Miss Gremlin before 🙂

There’s about 8 inches of warm bubbly inviting water in the bath.

This is the part he’s the lease fond of, after about 10 minutes he tries to get out but then, when getting out and shaking all that lather around the bathroom isn’t an option, he lets me rinse him properly 🙂

Now for the vigorous towel dry followed by the lovely warm hair dryer. The fluff does fly!

He does love a good run around after his bath

Once he’s clean and dry, he just must run around and get the blood pumping.

All this activity. I need a nap

And once again we find him in his usual position.

But at least he smells like pomegranates instead of stale pee.

  1. What a sweet boy! I am always reminded how much our dogs love and trust us to get in the bath. You have inspired me. My dog AND my bathroom need a good scrubbing!

  2. I love it! The pictures are great. We haven’t done the bath thing with our Charlie since she was a puppy and could fit in the kitchen sink. (She needs to be groomed about every 6 weeks, so they do it) I miss that part! Well your cute pictures make me think I miss it but in reality, I am not sure about that.

  3. SO cute! My dog used to hide in the bath tub when it was storming. Sometimes, he would crawl up onto the sink if he was really scared (I’m not entirely sure why…) But he hated baths. Go figure.

  4. He’s just adorable!! I had a dog (sadly passed away now) who hated baths, but would submit to it meekly!! He too would race around the place afterwards to get his blood unfrozen again!!
