Sir Lickalot has had a few different haircuts,

He’s had the trim…

But the best one, is the Lion cut, although it was kind of embarrassing to walk him because of the attention 😛

The problem is, since he has all of his issues, it would take hours! And he would be traumatised when I went to pick him up. One time I dropped him off, walked the two blocks home and got a phone call to come get him because they couldn’t handle him.

Apparently he sits down because of the noise, so it takes two people. You know how he gets when the drill comes out.

And I got to thinking, not everyone is going to care for him like us, even though I explain he’s brain damaged and blind in one eye. He always seemed very happy to get out of there and getting him IN the door is a mammoth task.

It’s really hot here in NYC and he needs to be clipped because he has one of those double coats, he’s old and I can really see the heat affecting him.

I made a decision to try and do it myself. So I went to the Amazon and found some good quality clippers and awaited their delivery. One day shipping of course!

Here’s Mr Fluffy pants before…

I unpacked everything and just went for it. I got Grand Master D to help in case he freaked out.

Truth is, this dog trusts me and I can get him to do practically anything with enough patience but that wasn’t required at all!

He just stood there.

It was super easy and fun. Just like shearing a sheep.

Grand Master D even had a go, however his handywork needs perfecting, see the large gouge? But hey, it’s just hair and it’ll grow back. FullSizeRender (56)

He’s much happier and easier to wash. I think I’ll keep him trimmed.

I consider it a success.

Total cost $50 for clippers and 45 minutes work.

Totally savings $100 grooming fee every time and 2-5 hours, depending on the groomer.

He seems relaxed enough with the outcome.

All I need is a supply of bandanas….

  1. At first when you told me you were trimming him I thought you meant his nails because thankfully we don’t need to trim the pugs’ coats. They give me a hard enough time with the nails! I like the lion cut! You did a good job and he looks comfy & cool.
