This week is the first work week for the year for us. We all had a break together. The kids went back to school yesterday after their Christmas vacation.
During the break, we all relaxed, hiked, day tripped, overnighted, stayed up late and slept late but Monday morning reality has hit hard. This morning Grand Master D was already suffering from the weight of the early mornings, Miss Gremlin has been moody and tired but she’s almost 11 so she’s got other reasons.
My Lord Dr King is full swing! 2015 has conquer me written all over it.
The conference calls are endless and the only way to escape them is to retreat into my own world with headphones on. I can handle the first hour but we are now entering hour 3 and it’s all too much. Luckily I have 2 pairs of wireless bluetooth headphones which are in a constant state of charging.
I have to remember how to co-habit the work space again. When to time the coffee grinder just right so as to not disturb critical information transference on the call, how to carve out shower time and which doors to shut so I can dry my hair. It’s a delicate balance. 🙂 The struggle is real.
But I wouldn’t wish it any other way. We are very lucky to be able to spend time together. Every day, ALL DAY.
When does his February trip to Australia start again?
Happy New Year Peeps.

Kevin and I both work from home too. But since August, I took over his office in the house, and he’s working in our studio, which is a separate building. He likes it because there are fewer distractions out there, and that way we both have our own spaces, but still get to do things like go out to lunch occasionally. It’s been working out pretty well. But before, yep – it was a lot of making sure I didn’t run the vacuum while he was on a call and things like that.
We’re all adjusting to being back to the routine too. Max came home yesterday, passed out and slept until 2 or 3am, when he got up and made himself mac n’ cheese. haha He’s pretty out of it today.
Happy New Year girl! Hope to see you soon when it warms up a tad. xo
The opportunities both of you have not only embraced, but created over the years has always been an inspirational source for others, including myself. Unfortunately my misanthrope mentality is bigger than the motivation I get from said inspiration. lol
Nonetheless, I will always ask of the universe and fate to do what they positively can for the people that have played a role in my history and where I am today. Of course that includes the Family Mills.
Looking forward to reading of the many successes that lie ahead for you all.
I’m not so sure Desi and I could pull it off like you and the King do. Honestly? I’m sure he’s had his fill of me by the end of the weekend. Possibly, vise versa too.

it does take a special kind of relationship to be able to co-habit a work space with one’s spouse. I have very good headphones! 😉
This post is very inspiring to hear, thanks for posting! I’m just starting to work more from home for my coffee blog and it gives me hope.
My wife and I both work from home, but let me tell you, it ain’t easy. Inspirational blog! 🙂
