The Dawn of Flight

We arrived safely, our flights were great, and actually we arrived in the land down under quite well rested with everyone having at least 5-6 hours sleep. We were comfortable even though we didn’t get any spare seats and I have to say it was one of the best flights I’ve done, I guess these well travelled kids are really getting to the right age.
As the dawn broke it was so beautiful to watch the sky change colors over the course of a couple of hours from the very first glimmer of light to full blown morning. The flying kangaroo took us safely across the Pacific without incident and we sighted land about 7am Wednesday or 5pm Tuesday New York time. We’re in the future now and so far it looks bright.
They have made a few changes on QANTAS over the years since I’ve been doing this trip, they don’t play “I still call Australia Home” on taxi into the gate anymore which is fine because after 14 hours my emotional state is a bit weak anyway and they don’t hand out the refreshment bags, instead opting for the self help bar at the back of the plane, stocked with water, apples, nuts, power bars for between meal hunger and toiletries and comforts like sleep masks and socks for your tootsies, this makes sense to me because I can only imagine the waste of giving every passenger a bag they may not even use and I’m all for keeping the prices down.

This was also the first trip Miss Gremlin wasn’t offered a child activity pack, sniff, she still gets the child meal though.

The pictures of the dawning don’t do it justice but you can see how beautiful it really is.
