Blogher, What an Experience

After finally arriving home last night around 7, I came in exhausted. Being on the road is rough. It was all I could do not to fall asleep on the ‘A’ train from the airport but that shit’s illegal in NYC so I held it together. My Lord Dr King was sympathetic because he knows.
He’s the one travelling all the time, he’s the one having to get back into the groove that is normal life after being away on the road but this was my reentry and it was hard. But it was so worth it.

So much fun has been had since Thursday that I can’t even begin to describe it but let try anyway. When so many of your friends live inside your computer, the thought of getting to meet them in person is so exciting it’s difficult to contain yourself, and that includes nervous pee, because that totally happened. Heading out of my house at 4am on Thursday morning like a big girl, I headed to Chicago to meet my blogging bestie Lucy Ball from My Life at Lucille, we were rendezvousing in O’Hare and catching the flight together over to San Jose, cos it’s good to get to know who you’ll be sleeping beside for 4 nights, one doesn’t want to be murderated (it’s a word) in their sleep right?

So I landed without incident and set about waiting for her arrival.I made friends with the baggage counter clerk because I was hanging out so long waiting!

Once together it just fit like an old glove, like we’ve alway been together and so being still super early and knowing we had tons of time until our next flight we headed to Wolfgang pucks for breakfast. We ate and chatted and then found ourselves heading towards the gate, with still plenty of time. When we got there it was full of people for the flight before and so we positioned ourselves at the opposite gate so we could keep an eye on it and get our flight. We talked and I facetimed Miss Gremlin and we talked more and laughed and then Lucy needed something to quell her anxiety, as she got up to leave she said “Did I just hear my name?”, dismissing the thought she wandered off while I engrossed myself in twitter, she came back and we settled back into just loving being together and then we both heard it, both names over the loudspeaker, we looked at the gate lounge which was empty and realised yes we were summoned and we ran to the gate. Shocked, we were informed by the openly annoyed attendant that they close the plane 10 minutes before take off and that time was now. HOLY SHIT! We nearly missed our flight? Laughing so hard, we did the walk/run of shame onto the aircraft, walking down the aisle to stares and mutterings of ‘asshole’.

They closed the forward doors and we took off. OOPs.

The flight over was uneventful unless you count the weird crop circles we flew over, which had me wondering what the hell they were and naturally I took to social media to find out the answer. We also flew over a wildfire.

When we arrived and checked in we set about registering and finding people we knew.

We fangirled JC Little first and I’m not sure she fully recovered but she was gracious and lovely and she’s so talented.

Then we got ready to meet the others for dinner but that needs an entire post all of it’s own. So much to tell. So many fun experiences…. stay tuned!

  1. “Fit like a glove.” It was amazing! And everyone we hung out with gave me some wisdom to take home. Kristi, I don’t recall you trying to sign us. We travel though, so where would you like us to meet you?
