Have you Kissed the Blarney Stone? Have you even thought what that might be? I pictured a stone in a field, I don’t know why… I certainly didn’t picture this!
See that gap up there? In the middle? That’s the Blarney Stone, inside the Blarney Castle over 5 stories and more than a hundred thin windy spiral stone steps which cause young children to have panic attacks like this…
Ok so maybe that photo doesn’t give the full effect. Try to picture climbing in this small space,
people in front, people behind, nowhere to go, trapped, being pushed up some tiny medieval stairs to the top of an old stone building and having a fear of heights. Yeah, she sobbed all the way up. I was not very sympathetic, the people in line were helpful and caring. I just said stop crying nothing’s gonna happen. Mean Mummy, yep, whatever. She made it. She was proud. I was proud of her!
Again the picture doesn’t show it but in years to come she’ll remember and that’s what counts! She’ll have to return to Kiss the stone but now she knows what to expect. Who knows history may even repeat itself……
This was one of the rooms off the staircase. There were signs to tell you the uses. It’s amazing that people lived in these old castles. History sure comes alive. It was truly fascinating.
A window in the stairwell to see what we can see!
The line was long but it was totally worth it. Hanging upside down over a hole to kiss a rock wall that’s been kissed by millions! Yup check that box!
Now we’ve all kissed the Blarney stone, there’ll be no stopping us!

SO pretty! My Nana kissed the Blarney Stone when she was in her 80s. There is just no way to take a flattering picture of that, is there?

It looks like you and your kids had fun. 😉
I loved seeing your photos and reading your post. I live in Ireland and have never kissed the Blarney Stone but its on my list!
Your pictures are amazing! I would LOVE to go there. I’m not sure about the winding, narrow tunnels on the way up though.
